The slower, sweeter option.

Road conditions

NH44 to Chandigarh is excellent 6-lane highway. Beyond Mandi, roads narrow to 2-lane hill roads. Well-maintained but winding. Any car with decent ground clearance works fine.

Fuel stops

Last major petrol stations: Mandi (HP, BPCL, IOC). Last reliable pump before Jibhi is at Aut — top up here. No CNG stations past Chandigarh.

GPS & navigation

Google Maps works well till Mandi. After that, signal drops. Download offline maps for Kullu district. Search for "Jibhi" — not the property name. We'll WhatsApp you a pin.

Parking

We have parking at the property for up to 8 cars. If you arrive in a large SUV, call ahead — the last road is narrow and we'll guide you in.

Night driving

Avoid driving the hill section (Mandi → Jibhi) after dark. No street lights, sharp bends, and occasional animals on the road. Plan to arrive by 5–6 PM.

Monsoon driving

July–August: carry chains, drive slow on wet bends. Landslide zones are marked. Check HRTC Twitter for real-time road status before departure.

Mode Seven · By Helicopter

The luxury arrival.

Charter helicopter services are available from Chandigarh and Shimla to the Bhuntar helipad. Flight time is approximately 45 minutes from Chandigarh. From the helipad, we arrange a private car for the final 1.5-hour drive to the property.

The Last Mile

Once you reach the village,
we take over.

The last kilometre to the property is a narrow forest road. We recommend driving to the Jibhi village square and calling ahead — we will send someone down to guide you in, help with the bags, and park your car safely.

Stone pathway to the property

A Few Tips

Before you set off.

Leave early

Aim to be on the road by 5 am from Delhi or 7 am from Chandigarh. Hill-road driving after dusk is not advised.

Fuel up before the tunnel

The last reliable petrol stop is at Aut, just before the tunnel. After that, pumps are scarce.

Offline maps

Mobile data gets patchy past Mandi. Download the Google Maps area offline before you leave.

Winter (Dec–Feb)

Tirthan stays open year-round. Jalori Pass may close on snow days; carry chains if your car has low ground clearance.

Monsoon (Jul–Aug)

Expect slower roads, occasional landslides. Build an extra 1–2 hours into any route. Still magical.

Motion sickness

The last 40 km has tight bends. Dramamine + sitting in front helps. We will have ginger tea waiting.
